The best way to support the Langley High School orchestra is to sponsor the Langley Orchestra Society (“LOS”) with a voluntary financial contribution (“sponsorship”). LOS is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the Langley High School Orchestra and its students. LOS funds many orchestra items including sheet music and performance rights, sectional coaches, instrument repair and purchase, concert programs, professional accompanists for concerts, concert recordings, concert hospitality, and scholarship support for some students. Some schools require an “activity fee” when taking a performing arts class; Langley HS does not and Langley Orchestra relies upon voluntary donations to enrich the orchestra experience.
All orchestra parents and guardians are automatically members of the LOS, irrespective of monetary donation. The LOS is registered in VA pursuant to the State Corporation Commission. For those interested, the LOS by-laws are available here. LOS sends out newsletters on behalf of the orchestra and typically holds general membership meetings in the Fall and Spring.
